Converting your current visa to KITAS if you are already in Indonesia
While in Indonesia, you can convert your current 211A tourist visa, any C visa (including C2 business visa) or bridging visa to KITAS. This process of obtaining KITAS through the ITK to KITAS conversion process is called onshore. It is required to have at least 30 days remaining on the current visa. The procedure for closing KITAS will be required if you decide to issue a new visa, another type of KITAS (for example, change Nomad to Investor) and do not extend the current KITAS, or the current type of KITAS is non-extendable. There are 2 options for closing KITAS: before leaving the country via EPO and after leaving Indonesia ERP/ETK.
- The Exit Permit Only/EPO (Izin Keluar) process usually takes 4-5 working days. With a ready EPO, you must leave Indonesia within 7 days after the stamp appears in your passport.
- You can also close KITAS after leaving Indonesia using the Exit and Reentry Permit/ERP (Izin Keluar dan Masuk Kembali) process. Proof of departure, such as a stamp and boarding pass, must be provided.
KITAS extension
It is recommended to start the KITAS extension process 30 days before its expiration. To renew, you must provide a letter of residence from your local Banjar (Domisile Letter from Banjar). If you have changed your area of residence, it may take some time for you to receive this document. Also, before the extension procedure, you will have to go through the procedure of changing the address in the immigration documents, which takes an additional week.
