What Is the Indonesia E33 Second Home Visa?

The E33 Second Home Visa is a long-stay, non-employment visa for foreign nationals who wish to establish a second home in Indonesia. It provides an electronic residence permit (e-ITAS, commonly called KITAS) and an associated multiple re-entry permit (MREP) for the permitted term. The E33 does not itself authorise ordinary employment for an Indonesian employer. Different conditions apply to the 5-year and 10-year routes, so the exact eligibility should be checked before applying.

Why families choose E33: a predictable long-term residence framework, the ability to travel internationally while valid re-entry permission is held, and the opportunity to apply for qualifying family residence permits. Flado can assist with family KITAS visas E31B, E31E, E31H and E31J so the applications are planned together.

Second Home Visa E33 Requirements: Funds or Property

Applicants must meet the conditions of their exact E33 visa category. Flado’s 5-year application guidance generally refers to applicants aged 19 or older and a passport meeting the prescribed validity requirements (some application guidance specifies 36 months). A current photograph, CV, travel details and a financial commitment declaration may also be requested. We confirm the applicable document checklist for your case before filing.

For the 5-year E33 Second Home Visa, the principal applicant must fulfil one of the eligible financial commitment routes within the period required by immigration, generally 90 days under the visa/ITAS conditions:

  • Bank funds: at least USD 130,000 or equivalent held in an account in the applicant’s own name at an eligible Indonesian state-owned bank, such as Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI, BTN or BSI, subject to the applicable requirements. Maintain a margin for exchange-rate fluctuations.
  • Qualifying property: eligible property evidence under the visa rules, including an applicable apartment/flat ownership route with a minimum value of USD 1,000,000 or equivalent. A villa’s estimated value, nominee arrangement or ordinary long-term rental/lease is not automatically acceptable as ownership evidence.

Important: older references to a fixed IDR 2 billion deposit are not a reliable substitute for the USD 130,000 equivalent specified in the 5-year E33 conditions. The required commitment must continue to be maintained in accordance with the permit terms, and immigration may recheck it. Non-compliance or late reporting can put the residence permit at risk. For a 10-year E33 route or an unusual property structure, contact us for an individual eligibility review rather than relying on assumptions about lease duration or ownership.

How to Get an E33 Second Home KITAS

  1. Apply for your e-Visa. Flado checks your documents and prepares the E33 application. For complete offshore applications, our usual estimate is 5–10 working days, subject to immigration review and additional requests.
  2. Arrive in Indonesia. After the relevant entry formalities, your electronic residence permit (e-ITAS) and the applicable re-entry permission are generated electronically. Keep your electronic immigration documents available during travel and throughout your stay.
  3. Fulfil and report the financial commitment. Within the applicable deadline, obtain official evidence of your deposited funds or eligible property, submit the required Proof of Funds information online, and complete any immigration verification requested. Flado helps coordinate the process and confirm its completion.

Proof of Funds for E33: A Clear, Guided Process

Proof of Funds is a financial compliance requirement after your E33 is issued. First obtain an official bank document and submit the report online. Flado reviews your bank evidence and assists with the online submission, then confirms the responsible immigration office and guides you through any required in-person verification.

1. Obtain the official bank document. Visit the issuing branch of your Indonesian state-owned bank and ask for an original Rekening Koran (account statement) or Surat Keterangan Saldo Rekening (bank balance certificate). It must show the applicant’s name, account details, currency and an actual, recent balance that satisfies the applicable threshold. Keep the original issued by the bank.

2. Send the bank document to Flado. Send us a clear photo or scan of your bank-issued statement. Our team will review it and prepare everything needed for the online Proof of Funds submission. Please keep the original bank document for possible verification.

3. Follow the immigration verification instructions. After the online report is submitted, Flado will confirm the immigration office responsible for your case and let you know whether a personal visit is required. If immigration requests the original bank statement, we will explain where to go and what to bring. We will follow up until the Proof of Funds procedure is completed.

What does an acceptable statement look like? A regular branch-issued Bank Mandiri Rekening Koran can be suitable; a bespoke letter promising future funds is not necessarily required. Here is a real anonymised example of the document format previously used in an immigration financial reporting case:

Bank statement checklist and what to bring if immigration calls you

Your original official bank statement or balance certificate should clearly identify the holder, bank, account number, currency, statement date and current or closing balance. A branch stamp or authorised signature is useful where issued. A home printout of a mobile-app screenshot should not be treated as equivalent to an original branch-issued statement. If immigration requests personal verification, bring your passport, e-Visa, e-ITAS and the bank-issued original, plus any additional documents specified in your individual notice. The correct office will be confirmed for your case; an older e-ITAS office name or a nearby office on a map may not reflect the office handling the verification.

Complete the financial reporting within the deadline stated in your own visa/ITAS conditions, generally around 90 days. We recommend starting early if you are transferring funds internationally or waiting for bank documents.

Second Home Family Visas: E31B, E31E, E31H and E31J

Your Indonesian residence plan can include eligible family members. After the principal E33 visa is granted, qualifying relatives may apply under the appropriate category: E31B (spouse), E31E (eligible child), E31H (eligible parent) and E31J (a qualifying minor child joining a sibling who holds ITAS/ITAP). Family relationships, age limits and the length of the dependent permit must be assessed individually; E31J is not a general visa for every adult sibling.

Common documents include passports, the principal applicant’s approved visa or e-ITAS, and a marriage certificate, birth certificate or another appropriate official relationship record. Certified translation or legalisation may be required when the original is not in an accepted form. Our team can check these documents and coordinate the filing sequence. See the complete E31 dependent KITAS guide.

Frequently Asked Questions About the E33 Second Home Visa

Do I need to visit immigration to submit Proof of Funds?

Submit the Proof of Funds information online first. Immigration may then require an in-person check of original bank documents. Flado will confirm the correct office and the next steps before asking you to attend. Online submission alone does not necessarily mean that verification is complete.

Is a Bank Mandiri Rekening Koran enough?

A genuine bank-issued Rekening Koran or official balance certificate can be suitable if it identifies the account holder and shows a sufficient actual balance. Obtain it from the bank branch, keep the original and send Flado a clear photo or scan. We will prepare the document for online reporting. The bank document remains subject to immigration review.

Is IDR 2 billion enough for the five-year Second Home Visa?

Do not rely on the older IDR 2 billion figure. The five-year E33 financial commitment discussed here is at least USD 130,000 or equivalent for the bank-funds route. The actual amount required in another currency depends on the applicable exchange rate and official assessment.

Can my family obtain the same five-year stay?

Qualifying family members can apply under the appropriate E31 categories. The exact eligibility and permitted validity depend on the relative’s age, relationship, documentation and the principal holder’s status. Flado can prepare a combined plan for the family.

Can I use my villa or lease instead of depositing money?

Possibly, but only if the underlying property rights and supporting documents satisfy the applicable E33 property option. A villa’s market price, a nominee holding structure or a long-term rental contract is not, on its own, proof of qualifying ownership. Ask us to assess the ownership documents before committing to this route.
