If you have a KITAS or KITAP and plan to apply for a new visa, it is important to first officially close your current stay permit — through EPO, TSP, or by allowing it to expire naturally.
This step is required before applying for a new visa or KITAS, including VOA and e-VOA.
Important: Without closing the previous permit, your new visa application will be rejected.
What Are the Options for Closing KITAS/KITAP?
1) EPO (Exit Permit Only) – Closing Inside Indonesia
- Purpose: To close the KITAS/KITAP while still inside Indonesia.
- Processing time: 3–4 working days.
- After issuance: You can stay only 7 calendar days inside Indonesia.
- Next step: Immediately apply for a new visa or KITAS.
- Standard processing time for a new visa/KITAS: 5–10 working days.
- Urgent option: Speed-up service can issue a new visa/KITAS within approximately 3 working days, ideal if you need a quick visa run and re-entry.
2) TSP (Termination of Stay Permit) – Closing Outside Indonesia
- Also known as EPO Outside Indonesia (previously called ERP – Exit Re-Entry Permit).
- Purpose: To terminate KITAS/KITAP after leaving Indonesia.
- Processing time: 3–5 working days.
- Important: TSP officially stops your residence permit and allows you to apply for a new visa.
Important Note:
If a client informs about the need for EPO inside Indonesia too late (for example, just a few days before leaving), and they are already about to fly or have flown, the EPO will be processed as EPO Outside (TSP).Ticket proof (boarding pass or flight ticket) must be provided to start the EPO process after leaving.
To proceed with EPO inside Indonesia, the client must inform at least 2–3 weeks before leaving, otherwise, outside processing (TSP) will apply.
3) Automatic Closing – After KITAS/KITAP Expiration
- If your KITAS/KITAP expires naturally, no EPO or TSP is needed.
- However, you must leave Indonesia with a valid, non-expired permit.
- The KITAS/KITAP must expire while you are outside Indonesia.
- After expiration, you can immediately apply for a new visa/KITAS.
Conditions for EPO and TSP Application
To process an EPO or TSP, we need:
- Access to your sponsor’s documents and
- Access to your sponsor’s immigration account in the Indonesian immigration system.
If you forgot your sponsor account login or do not have access:
- We can help recover the account within 3–5 working days.
- Cost for account recovery: IDR 1.5 million.
EPO Before KITAS Expiration or Wait for Expiration?
Option 1: Let KITAS Expire Abroad (No EPO Required) – Free
Best for: KITAS holders who can stay abroad for a few days.
- Leave Indonesia before the KITAS expiration date.
- Stay outside Indonesia until the KITAS officially expires.
- After expiration, apply for a new KITAS.
- No EPO or TSP required, saving around IDR 1.5 million.
- Processing time for a new KITAS: Approximately 7–10 working days (can be expedited if needed).
Note:
You cannot legally re-enter Indonesia until your new visa is issued.
Not recommended if you need to return urgently.
Option 2: Apply for EPO (Inside or Outside Indonesia)
Best for: Those who need to return to Indonesia quickly or obtain a new KITAS urgently.
- Apply for EPO inside Indonesia: flado.id/epo
- Apply for TSP (EPO outside Indonesia): flado.id/tsp
- After EPO or TSP is completed, you can immediately start a new visa/KITAS application.
- Speed-up service available: New KITAS can be issued within approximately 3 working days.
- Return to Indonesia once your new e-ITAS is ready.
Cost for EPO or TSP: Approximately IDR 1.5 million.
Advantages:
- Smoother processing
- Faster re-entry
- No risk of application rejections
Alternative Option: Closing KITAS Through a Bridging Visa (Without Leaving Indonesia)
If you want to stay in Indonesia and avoid the need to leave the country, there is an additional option — applying for a Bridging Visa.
How it works:
- You officially close your current KITAS while remaining in Indonesia.
- You apply for a Bridging Visa, which grants 60 days of legal stay without leaving the country.
- Within the first 29 days after the Bridging Visa is issued, you can apply for a new KITAS, different from the previous one.
- There is no need to leave Indonesia either to close your old KITAS or to obtain your new one.
Example:
You can close an Investor KITAS and obtain a Nomad KITAS without leaving Indonesia.
This option is ideal for those who plan to switch visa categories and want to avoid the cost and inconvenience of international travel.
Important Note for Clients Who Have Already Left Indonesia
If you have already left Indonesia, you must apply for EPO Outside (TSP) to officially terminate your KITAS.
This ensures a clean immigration record and allows you to proceed with your next visa application without issues.
Summary:
- EPO Outside = TSP = Proper termination of KITAS/KITAP after departure.
