How to stay longer than 60 days?

Use a Bridging Visa. This is a “bridge visa” that is issued after your tourist visa expires.

Important nuances of the transition:

• Sponsorship is mandatory: From a Visa on Arrival (B1) via a Bridging Visa, you can only transition to sponsored types of KITAS. Sponsorship is acquired during the Bridging Visa processing.
• Which KITAS can be obtained onshore (inside the country):

  — Spouse KITAS (Family KITAS via marriage to an Indonesian citizen)

• What CANNOT be obtained onshore: You cannot switch to a Remote Worker (Nomad) Visa E33G or Second Home Visa while in Indonesia. For these visas, you will need to fly out and apply anew.

Attention to timing!

If you use a Bridging Visa, keep in mind: it does not extend your current visa, but “overrides” it. You must apply for Bridging when you still have some days left on your tourist visa; when the Bridging Visa is issued, it will cut off the remaining days if there are any.
