Pregnancy, Birth, and Visa Status in Indonesia: eVOA, Bridging Visa, and Newborn Documents (E33G & Romanian Case)

This article explains a real-life immigration scenario in Indonesia involving:

  • Husband holding E33G Remote Worker KITAS (self-sponsored)
  • Wife entering Indonesia on eVOA
  • Pregnancy and childbirth planned in Indonesia

Below is a clear, step-by-step guide on what is legally possible, what is not, and how to act correctly before and after childbirth.

Important update regarding E33G Remote Worker KITAS

If an E33G KITAS is self-sponsored:

❌ It is NOT eligible to sponsor Dependent ITAS for family members.

This is the official position confirmed by Immigration.

As a result:

  • The wife cannot obtain Dependent ITAS based on the husband’s E33G
  • A separate visa strategy is required for the wife

Wife’s visa status: eVOA (entry on 6 December)

eVOA rules:

  • Valid for 30 days
  • Can be extended once for another 30 days
  • Maximum stay on eVOA: 60 days

Approximate timeline:

  • 6 Dec → ~4 Jan (first 30 days)
  • Extension → ~3–4 Feb

eVOA extension: with or without an agency

The eVOA extension can be done:

  • Independently, without an agency
Processing time: approximately 11–15 working days
  • Through an agency (Flado)
Processing time: approximately 3–5 working days

Bridging Visa is not required to extend eVOA.

Bridging Visa: key solution in pregnancy cases

Bridging Visa allows:

  • Staying in Indonesia without exit
  • Legal stay for an additional 60 days
  • Potential future conversion to ITAS (if planned correctly)

When to apply for Bridging Visa

For VOA / eVOA holders:

  • Application must be submitted at least 15 days before visa expiry

Example:

  • If eVOA + extension expires in early February,
  • Bridging Visa should be applied in mid–late January

Bridging Visa cost and format

  • Cost:
IDR 3,000,000 — special price if the next step (onshore conversion to ITAS) is also paid
IDR 4,000,000 — standard price if the onshore conversion to ITAS is not paid
  • Validity: 60 days
  • Format: Electronic
  • Documents: passport, photo, current visa

Important:

  • Exit from Indonesia is NOT allowed while on Bridging Visa
  • Bridging Visa is automatically cancelled upon exit

Converting Bridging Visa to ITAS

Conversion is possible only if:

The Bridging Visa is submitted from the beginning with the correct sponsor (Guarantor, for example Flado).

If Bridging Visa is applied without the proper sponsor:
❌ ITAS conversion will not be possible later.

Childbirth in Indonesia: mandatory immigration actions

There is no automatic status for a newborn.

The 60-day countdown starts from the date of birth.

Failure to complete procedures on time leads to fines and immigration issues.

Step 1. Indonesian Birth Certificate (Akta Kelahiran)

Issued by Dukcapil (Civil Registry Office).

Required documents:

  • Passports of both parents
  • Marriage certificate
  • Indonesian address

Step 2. Romanian passport for the newborn (Jakarta only)

For Romanian citizens:

  • Passport is issued via Kedutaan Besar Rumania (Embassy of Romania) in Jakarta

Location:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/EtVb25pMtsAo1XV97

Important practical notes:

  • One parent usually travels to Jakarta
  • The baby does NOT need to be present
  • The trip must be planned within the first weeks after birth, otherwise you may not make it in time (based on real practice)
  • Always confirm the document list directly with the embassy in advance

Step 3. Immigration report for newborn (Newborn Report)

Deadline:

  • Within 60 days from birth
  • Penalty for delay: IDR 1,000,000 per day

Service via Flado:

  • Immigration report: IDR 1,500,000
  • Processing time: 3–5 working days

Official guide:

Step 4. Visa status for the newborn

After passport issuance:

  • Child ITAS (onshore) is possible if a passport is issued

Important limitation:

  • Some nationalities (for example China) receive Travel Documents only inside Indonesia
  • Travel Documents are NOT eligible for ITAS
  • In such cases, ITAS is not possible

Travel plans during Bridging Visa

While on Bridging Visa:

  • ❌ Travel to Singapore is not allowed
  • ❌ Any exit cancels the Bridging Visa

Recommended strategy:

  • Stay in Indonesia until March
  • Exit Indonesia after Bridging Visa ends
  • Continue travel to Europe afterwards

Summary

  • Dependent ITAS from self-sponsored E33G — ❌ not allowed
  • eVOA → extension → Bridging Visa — ✅ correct strategy
  • Bridging Visa pricing:
    • IDR 3,000,000 (with paid onshore ITAS conversion)
    • IDR 4,000,000 (without ITAS conversion)
  • Passport for Romanian newborn — Jakarta embassy, early planning required
  • Immigration report must be completed within 60 days
  • Child ITAS possible only with a real passport
