JAKARTA – The government has officially removed Cameroon from the list of countries subject to Indonesian calling visas. This was confirmed through the Decree of the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Kepmenkumham) Number M.HH-05.GR.01.06 of 2023 which was ratified on 23 November 2023. The removal of Cameroon from the list of calling visa countries was based on various considerations, including the potential for economic cooperation and The negative impact (level of vulnerability/risk) on Indonesia is relatively low.
“One of the considerations for removing Cameroon from the list of calling visa subject countries is that this country is a potential market and entry point for Indonesian products into the West African and Central African regions. “Data from BPS and the Ministry of Trade also shows that there will be a surplus of 32 million US Dollars in the trade balance between Indonesia and Cameroon in 2022,” said Director General of Immigration, Silmy Karim on November 28, 2023.
Silmy also explained that there has been a significant downward trend in terms of Immigration Administrative Actions (TAK) against Cameroonian citizens in recent years. Apart from that, in almost the last four years there has been no projustice carried out by Cameroonian citizens in Indonesia.
The removal of Cameroon from the list of calling visa countries has implications for visa application procedures for Cameroonian citizens which no longer go through the clearing house (CH). They can make a visa application online for 211A/C2 (ex B211A) and D1/D2 (ex D212) visas. Immigration controls on Cameroonian citizens also apply to foreign citizens in general.

“Immigration control applies as usual, Cameroonian citizens will be prosecuted if they commit violations. If there are many violations, then Immigration may propose to re-evaluate the cancellation of the calling visa. The Directorate General of Immigration continues to evaluate the countries included in the list of calling visa countries. “Currently, the evaluation process for calling visa revocation is being carried out for the West African country of Guinea,” said Silmy.
On the other hand, Indonesian citizens (WNI) who will come to Cameroon are required to apply for a visa.
