How to Choose the Correct Type of Entry to Indonesia (2026 Update)

How to Choose the Correct Type of Entry to Indonesia (2026 Update)

For travelers from 13 Visa Exemption countries (https://flado.id/typea), it is important to understand that Visa Exemption is not the same as Visa on Arrival (VOA/eVOA). Visa Exemption allows free entry for 30 days, but it cannot be extended and cannot be converted into any other visa type, including Bridging Visa or KITAS. If you plan to stay beyond 30 days, you will be required to leave Indonesia.

Because the Visa Exemption form looks visually similar to the eVOA form, travelers who are tired after long flights often unintentionally receive the wrong entry type at the airport.
To put it simply:
If no payment was made → Visa Exemption.
If payment was made → VOA/eVOA.

If you want to stay longer than 30 days, do not use Visa Exemption. Instead, choose VOA/eVOA or a long-stay visa type.

Visa Exemption (30 days, non-extendable, non-convertible)

Visa Exemption allows 30 days in Indonesia and cannot be extended.
It also cannot be converted to any long-stay visa or KITAS.
After 30 days, departure from Indonesia is mandatory.
