Details for Onshore Conversion

As of March 2025, there are no restrictions on converting your current Indonesian visa to an E33G Remote Worker Visa from within the country. Onshore conversion to a Nomad KITAS is possible from the following visa types without leaving Indonesia:

Please note that for onshore conversions, you must use our visa agency sponsorship. The onshore process takes 2 to 4 weeks, requires a visit to the local immigration office for biometric data collection, and you cannot leave Indonesia during the process. Depending on the expiration date and type of your current visa, this conversion may require the additional processing of a Bridging Visa and its associated payment.

Advantages: Offshore vs Onshore

While onshore conversion is slightly more expensive than applying offshore, it is definitely more cost-effective than flying out, staying abroad for almost a week, and purchasing return tickets just for a visa run. However, the onshore route involves more administrative steps, such as the required immigration visit and navigating the potentially stressful Bridging Visa scheme.

If you have plans to travel to another country anyway, we advise avoiding the onshore process. The offshore remote worker visa application is a well-established scheme that has been running smoothly for over two years. It is cheaper, faster, and allows you to skip local immigration office visits entirely.

Process for Families

If you are relocating with your family and are in a hurry to arrive in Indonesia, we recommend a mixed approach to keep things simple. Process the offshore Remote Worker Visa for the main applicant first. Once you arrive in Indonesia, we can proceed with the onshore sequential processing for your dependents: the Child KITAS (E31E) and the Spouse KITAS (E31B). The offshore process for a 1-year dependent permit is 10.200.000 IDR, while the onshore option costs an additional 3.000.000 IDR.

Attempting to process the entire family onshore from the beginning often leads to tight deadlines and unnecessary anxiety regarding bridging visas. The simpler the visa processes, the more pleasant your relocation experience will be.
