Indonesia Immigration Offices Renamed in 2026: What Visa, KITAS & KITAP Holders Need to Know

Indonesia Immigration Offices Renamed in 2026: What Visa, KITAS & KITAP Holders Need to Know

Indonesia has updated the official names, classifications and areas of jurisdiction of immigration offices across the country.

The changes were introduced under Keputusan Menteri Imigrasi dan Pemasyarakatan Republik Indonesia Nomor M.IP-30.OT.01.03 Tahun 2026, concerning Immigration Offices within the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.

For foreigners living in Indonesia, this matters because the immigration office shown in a new email, stay permit application, biometric appointment or extension procedure may now have a different name from the office you previously knew.

The most important point: if you see names such as Buleleng instead of Singaraja, Juanda instead of Surabaya, Kualanamu instead of Medan, or Manggarai Barat instead of Labuan Bajo, this does not automatically mean there is a problem with your visa or stay permit.

Indonesia Immigration Office Name Changes in 2026

Several immigration offices now operate under new official names. Based on the new ministerial decision and immigration notifications reviewed by Flado, the following changes are especially relevant for foreigners:

The ministerial decision establishes the current immigration office structure throughout Indonesia, including office names, classes, locations and wilayah kerja — their official areas of jurisdiction.

Singaraja Immigration Office Is Now Buleleng Immigration Office

This is one of the most relevant changes for foreigners living in Bali.

The immigration office previously known as Singaraja Immigration Office is now officially listed as:

Kantor Imigrasi Kelas II TPI Buleleng

So if you previously dealt with Singaraja Immigration but now receive a notification referring to Buleleng Immigration Office, it may refer to the same immigration authority under its new official nomenclature.

The 2026 structure lists five immigration offices in Bali:

  • Ngurah Rai — Kelas I Khusus TPI
  • Denpasar — Kelas I TPI
  • Buleleng — Kelas II TPI
  • Klungkung — Kelas III Non TPI
  • Tabanan — Kelas III Non TPI

The update is particularly important for stay permit procedures because immigration jurisdiction can depend on the foreigner’s registered residential address.

Surabaya Immigration Office Is Now Juanda Immigration Office

The immigration office previously known as:

Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I Khusus TPI Surabaya

is now officially listed as:

Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I Khusus TPI Juanda

The office is based in Kabupaten Sidoarjo.

If your previous immigration documents mention Surabaya but a new notification refers to Juanda Immigration Office, the new name may simply reflect the updated immigration office structure.

Medan and Kualanamu: An Important Difference

The changes in North Sumatra require extra attention because this is not simply a direct replacement of one office name.

The former Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I Khusus TPI Medan is now:

Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I Khusus TPI Kualanamu

At the same time, the former Polonia Immigration Office is now:

Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I Non TPI Medan

This means that Medan and Kualanamu are now two different immigration offices.

Foreigners in North Sumatra should therefore not assume that every Medan-area immigration procedure will be handled by Kualanamu. The correct office depends on the applicable immigration jurisdiction and the address connected to the foreigner’s stay permit.

Labuan Bajo Immigration Office Is Now Manggarai Barat

Another important change affects foreigners living in or around Labuan Bajo.

The office previously known as Labuan Bajo Immigration Office is now officially listed as:

Kantor Imigrasi Kelas II TPI Manggarai Barat

The updated jurisdiction covers areas including:

  • Manggarai Barat
  • Manggarai
  • Manggarai Timur
  • Ngada

Therefore, seeing Manggarai Barat instead of Labuan Bajo in a new immigration notification does not necessarily mean your application was unexpectedly moved somewhere else.

Kotabumi Immigration Office Is Now Lampung Utara

The former Kantor Imigrasi Kelas II Non TPI Kotabumi is now:

Kantor Imigrasi Kelas II Non TPI Lampung Utara

Foreigners who previously dealt with Kotabumi may therefore see Lampung Utara Immigration Office in newer immigration records and notifications.

Pematang Siantar Immigration Office Is Now Simalungun

The immigration office previously known as Pematang Siantar is now officially listed as Simalungun Immigration Office.

This is another nomenclature change introduced within the updated national immigration office structure.

Meulaboh Immigration Office Is Now Aceh Barat

The immigration office previously known as Meulaboh is now listed as Aceh Barat Immigration Office.

Foreigners in the region may therefore see Aceh Barat used instead of Meulaboh in current immigration systems or correspondence.

Sumbawa Besar Immigration Office Is Now Sumbawa

The former Sumbawa Besar Immigration Office is now officially listed as Sumbawa Immigration Office.

If you previously used the Sumbawa Besar office, the shorter name Sumbawa may now appear in your immigration application or official notification.

Tanjung Uban Immigration Office Is Now Bintan

The immigration office previously referred to as Tanjung Uban or Tg. Uban is now officially listed as Bintan Immigration Office.

This change is relevant to foreigners living or staying in the Bintan area of the Riau Islands.

Does an Immigration Office Rename Affect Your Visa, KITAS or KITAP?

Normally, a change of immigration office name does not by itself invalidate your Indonesian visa, KITAS or KITAP.

However, the 2026 decision is not limited to cosmetic name changes. It also establishes the classification and territorial jurisdiction of immigration offices.

This can matter when you need:

  • visa or stay permit extension;
  • KITAS or KITAP processing;
  • biometric photo and fingerprint appointment;
  • immigration interview;
  • change of address;
  • stay permit transfer or update;
  • other procedures requiring interaction with a local immigration office.

For this reason, you should use the immigration office assigned to your current application or jurisdiction rather than relying only on the office name shown on an old visa or immigration document.

Why Did Immigration Tell Me That My Jurisdiction Has Changed?

Some foreigners have received notifications from Indonesian Immigration informing them that they are now under the jurisdiction of a particular immigration office.

This may happen for two different reasons:

  1. The same immigration office has received a new official name.
  2. Your immigration jurisdiction has been reassigned under the updated wilayah kerja structure.

The second situation is particularly important when extending a stay permit or attending a biometric appointment.

If you receive an official immigration notification identifying a specific office for your case, follow the current office stated in the notification.

Do You Need to Visit Immigration Because an Office Was Renamed?

Usually, no.

If your visa, KITAS or KITAP remains valid, you generally do not need to visit an immigration office solely because the office has received a new name.

The practical issue normally arises when you submit your next visa, stay permit or extension procedure.

Need a New Indonesian Visa?

You can apply for an Indonesian visa online through the Flado Indonesia visa portal.

Need to Extend Your Visa or Stay Permit in Indonesia?

If you are already in Indonesia and need a visa or stay permit extension, you can arrange the extension with Flado online.

You can also check the expected extension cost before proceeding.

Flado can help verify the appropriate extension procedure and immigration office based on your current immigration status and location.

Flado Has Updated Its Immigration Office Directory

Flado monitors changes in Indonesia’s immigration system and updates its internal immigration office directory and routing accordingly.

This is important because a visa or stay permit case should be assigned using the current immigration office name and current jurisdiction, not an outdated office name stored in an old application.

For clients, this reduces confusion when immigration notifications, appointment locations or application records suddenly display a different office name.
